it withstood everything i put it through and that says it all. this case outperformed my expectations and was flawless. got back from a western Caribbean cruise where i did a lot of water activities including scuba, snuba (yes sNuba), swimming, powerboating and more. very easy to setup and use in and out of the water. it protected my camera from getting wet as well as protecting it from breaking as i had it around my wrist on an ATV adventure through the jungle. it was worth every penny i paid for it and i highly recommend it for anyone with this model camera who plan to go diving, swimming, or whatever. very easy to rinse and clean after use as well. be sure to get this awesome Canon accessory.
So this housing is cheap insurance for my expensive replacement camera and regular photos (not underwater) still turn out great even with the housing in place. This is a pricey gadget but it does protect the camera from moisture which is critical for the digital Canon. I probably will use this housing underwater maybe 4-5 days a year, but I will have my camera in the housing most of the time. My last digital Canon was only 6 months old and I was carrying it in a backpack in Hawaii. A rainstorm of less than 5 minute duration resulted in the camera getting damp and it was trash, no way to repair. It's easy to set up and easy to use. I'm very happy with the purchase.
Bought this a few months ago and finally got to test it out on JAX beach. I was able to get good pictures through the case with water splashing up or while the camera was underwater. The one thing I don't like is that the case cost 1/5 the camera itself. But even for that combined price, you get a great camera and can take it into any water activity and not worry.
This a very nice housing for the Cannon Camera. No leakage, great controls and handling.
I have three of these. Use them for shallow-water research projects. They're pretty rugged, are easy to use and maintain, and have remained problem-free to depths of 110'.
